Electric cars made up 88.4% of new passenger cars registered in Denmark in October. The figures come from Mobility Denmark's monthly release, based on bilstatistik.dk data. The Copenhagen Post, via Ritzau, reports the same 16,679 EVs out of 18,875 cars.
The numbers
- 18,875 new cars, up 16.9% from October 2025.
- EV share 88.4%, up from 70.6% a year ago and close to September's record of 88.8%.
- Private buyers: 97.6% electric.
- Year to date: 170,640 new cars, up 13.6%.
The Toyota bZ4X was the most registered car, followed by the VW ID.4 and Audi Q4 e-tron. Volkswagen had four models in the top 10.
Tesla
M3, citing Reuters, reports that Tesla's Danish registrations rose 34% in October, alongside 248% in Sweden and 131% in Norway. M3 notes that the big percentage rises come on top of weak 2025 figures.
Tax rise ahead
Under current rules, Denmark's registration tax on EVs rises on Jan. 1, 2027. Mobility Denmark says the price threshold at which EVs start paying the tax will fall from about 419,000 to about 366,000 kroner. CEO Mads Rørvig asked the government to stop the rise: "Hold afgiften i ro nu" ("Keep the tax steady now"), he said, while an expert committee works on a new car tax model.
