BYD's luxury brand is bringing a five-seat electric SUV rated for more than 1,000 km to China. Denza will open pre-sales for the all-electric N8 on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2026, ahead of an official launch in November, Denza general manager Li Hui announced on Weibo on Thursday, Oct. 22, CnEVPost and CarNewsChina reported. Denza did not give pricing or a delivery date.

What the filings show

  • Power: two single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions at 320 kW and 370 kW, and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive version on BYD's e3 platform producing 890 kW (1,193 hp), with a listed top speed of 240 km/h, according to China's MIIT filings as reported by CnEVPost and CarNewsChina.
  • Battery and range: LFP Blade packs of 105.792 kWh and 130.15 kWh, with certified CLTC ranges from 800 to 1,003 km, CarNewsChina said.
  • Size: 5,150 mm long with a 3,075 mm wheelbase, 50 mm shorter than the six-seat N8L, CnEVPost said.
  • Charging: Denza said in July that the N8 gets BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging, which it says gives a usable charge in 5 minutes and a near-full charge in 9 minutes.

Regulatory images show a roof-mounted lidar, but Denza hasn't confirmed the driver-assistance package, CarNewsChina said. For reference, the six-seat N8L sells for 299,800 to 329,800 yuan.

A revived name

The original N8 was a plug-in hybrid launched in August 2023 and discontinued less than a year later amid weak sales, CnEVPost noted. The new car is a fully electric five-seater meant to sit alongside the N8L. It's BYD's latest flash-charging launch after the second-generation Seagull this week.
