Elon Musk says Tesla will add a large font option to the touchscreen UI. Replying on X on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 to Stephen Fleming and Tesla, he wrote: "We will add a large font option to the UI." He did not say when it will arrive or how it will look, Tesla North and Not a Tesla App reported.
Fleming had posted that he was showing Full Self-Driving (Supervised) to an elderly neighbor who no longer drives at night because of poor vision. She would buy a Tesla, he said, except the text is too small "even with the display adjusted to large print." He asked for an optional UI with a "minimum 48-point type."
What cars already have
Tesla already offers Standard and Large text under Controls → Display → Text Size (added in 2023; available in all supported languages with update 2023.20). Switching sizes requires a reboot. Not a Tesla App notes the current Large setting still isn't enough for some older drivers and already crowds some UI areas.
Musk did not say whether the new option builds on Large or replaces it. Accessibility matters for FSD: older drivers who avoid night driving are a natural audience for supervised and, later, unsupervised rides. Related: what owners get in FSD v14.3.
