SAIC Volkswagen will launch the ID. ERA 5X compact SUV in China on Nov. 12. CnEVPost and IT Home both report the date, citing Autohome. Pre-orders opened on Sept. 15.

Why it matters

The ID. ERA 5X is the first all-electric SUV in the ID. ERA series. It's also Volkswagen's first production model anywhere built on the CMP (China Main Platform) and using the CEA (China Electronic Architecture), which Volkswagen co-developed with Xpeng. The ID. ERA models now on sale are the extended-range 9X and 8X SUVs and the plug-in hybrid 5S sedan.
