Starlink has begun charging different Residential prices depending on local network capacity and demand. The change is showing up in Kansas and Missouri so far. Customer emails suggest moves are limited to roughly 20% up or down.

Examples so far

  • A Missouri customer's Residential 100 Mbps plan rises from $50 to $60.50 a month.
  • Another Missouri customer's Residential Max plan rises from $130 to $156.
  • Prices can also drop. Starlink lists plans from $49.50 in Kansas City, Missouri, and from $44 in Marysville, Kansas.

What Starlink says

Starlink's email says pricing will be reviewed about every quarter as satellite capacity and demand change. "But these won't just be increases: as we expand capacity, service pricing in your area may be lowered," it said. The email points to the recent Starship launch carrying the first Starlink V3 satellites as a source of new capacity.

US Residential plans still include unlimited data. Drive Tesla Canada notes the move follows Starlink passing 12 million subscribers, and that SpaceX has not said whether dynamic pricing will come to Canada. Affected customers get a notice before their next billing cycle.
