Germany's switch to EVs is accelerating. The Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) says 94,086 battery-electric cars were newly registered in October, up 79.5% from 52,425 a year earlier and a record 37.0% of the market.

The overall market rose only 1.7% to 254,492 cars. Gasoline registrations fell 40.5% to 38,516 (15.1% share) and diesel 21.6% to 23,882 (9.4%). Plug-in hybrids slipped 7.9% to 28,499. Electrek notes BEVs outsold gasoline and diesel combined for the second month in a row.

AUTOHAUS reports the previous record share was 34.5% in September and that 698,230 BEVs have been registered so far this year, up 60.7%. It attributes the surge mainly to Germany's EV purchase incentive (translated from German).
