Meta has bought its way further into AI coding. The company acquired Conductor, a startup whose software lets engineers deploy multiple AI agents into parallel workspaces on one project, TechCrunch reports. Meta confirmed the deal but did not disclose terms; Axios first reported it.

«I have big news: Conductor is joining Meta,» founder and CEO Charlie Holtz wrote, adding that customers would get «something new» by early next year. Conductor, founded in 2024, runs agents from labs such as Anthropic and OpenAI rather than its own models.

Conductor Cloud goes read-only on November 13 and shuts down on November 20, while the local app keeps getting new models and critical fixes until early 2027, The Verge reports. TechCrunch says the company will begin deleting cloud user data after the shutdown.

The Verge places the deal in a wider fight over coding agents: xAI spent $60 billion on Cursor, and both companies are competing with Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex.
