OpenAI's models are coming to Google Cloud. In a post on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, OpenAI said it is partnering with Google Cloud to bring its frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud's Model Garden. General availability is planned "in the coming weeks," and customers can request access now, the company said.

What's changing

  • Buying through Google: Google Cloud customers will be able to purchase OpenAI frontier models through Model Garden, transacted on the Google Cloud Marketplace. Enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments can draw those down on the purchases, OpenAI said.
  • Inside Google's own tools: OpenAI models "will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent," the post says.
  • Microsoft stays first: "Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner," OpenAI wrote.

"This partnership is an important step in making our most capable models and Codex available where customers are already building," said OpenAI president Greg Brockman. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said the company is "focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI."

Why it matters

The deal puts OpenAI's models on all three of the top U.S. cloud infrastructure providers, CNBC reports. Amazon began hosting OpenAI models in April, after Microsoft's exclusive license on OpenAI's intellectual property ended, CNBC notes. It's also a truce of sorts: Google's Gemini models compete directly with GPT, and Google announced its next-generation Gemini 4 Argon model in September.

CNBC says Google's cloud revenue growth accelerated to about 82% in the second quarter, versus 37% at Amazon and 42% at Microsoft, and all three report quarterly results next week.
