People from the team behind Sweden's CAKE are back with a new electric bike. ReBake Motors showed the Abler for the first time at EICMA in Milan. Founder and CEO Karl Ytterborn was at CAKE from day one in 2016 through 2024, The Pack reports. Electrek notes that CAKE collapsed after it failed to raise more funding.
Two versions
- Abler45: an EU L1e-B moped with a 45 km/h (28 mph) top speed, 4 kW nominal and 5.12 kW peak power. It starts at €3,990 including VAT, Electrek reports.
- Abler80: an L3e-A1 light motorcycle that reaches more than 80 km/h (50 mph), with 6.14 kW nominal and 7.68 kW peak power. It costs €4,990.
Both use a direct-drive rear hub motor. Power comes from removable 2 kWh LFP batteries weighing 17 kg each. The Abler45 comes with one and can carry two, while the Abler80 includes two for 4 kWh in total. With two batteries, ReBake claims up to 160 km of low-speed urban range for the Abler45 and 114 km for the Abler80, according to Electrek. The batteries charge on or off the bike from a normal household outlet.
Built to carry things
The frame is made of 42 mm round aluminium tubing that doubles as a mounting system. The Pack says loads can go on the front, at the rear, across the frame, on the battery lid or along the side rails, without the owner first adding racks or brackets.
«We've put function first and engineered a bike that simply works», Ytterborn said in remarks published by The Pack. The bike is on show at EICMA from Nov. 3 to 8, and ReBake says selected retailers across Europe will follow.
