Another Chinese embodied-AI startup has banked a large round. RoboScience announced on November 2 that it had completed an A2 round worth several hundred million yuan, according to 21st Century Business Herald and RobotHOT. Neither gave an exact figure.

The investors

Amber Capital, Hongruida Investment and Shanghai Semiconductor Industry Investment co-led the round. Shuang Capital, 360 Strategic Investment, Jinding Capital and investment platforms of several listed companies also took part, the two outlets report.

Where the money goes

  • Continued iteration and upgrading of its large embodied-AI models.
  • Proof-of-concept trials and scaled deployment in logistics, retail and industrial settings.
  • Hiring senior talent.

The company

RoboScience was founded by CEO Tian Ye and Shao Lin, who were classmates at Stanford, 21st Century Business Herald reports. Tian studied under Andrew Ng; Shao worked on robot learning under Jeannette Bohg and Leonidas Guibas. The company develops its own general embodied model, Visics, and a physics simulation engine called RoboMirage, which it says lowers the barrier to collecting training data. RobotHOT lists its REX G1 humanoid robot among its recent launches.
