Salzburg AG has opened its biggest charging park yet, right at the Wallersee exit of Austria's A1 West Autobahn in Eugendorf, electrive.net and MeinBezirk report.

The site

  • Chargers: eight fast-charging points, six at up to 480 kW each and two at up to 600 kW.
  • Total power: up to 1.4 MW.
  • Trucks and caravans: two drive-through bays for electric trucks and vehicles towing caravans, a first for the company.
  • Hardware: Alpitronic chargers, including Hypercharger HYC1000 units with slim dispensers and the power electronics in separate cabinets, electrive.net reports. It also spotted two M-TEC battery storage units on site.
  • Build time: construction started in June 2026 and took about four months.

«With the new charging hub in Eugendorf, we are creating a high-performance offer at a particularly important location for traffic,» said Michael Baminger, Salzburg AG's chief executive (translated from German). He called fast-charging expansion an essential building block for meeting growing demand for electric mobility in the state of Salzburg.

Investment

Salzburg AG says it is investing about €6 million in expanding its public charging network in 2026. Eugendorf's mayor, Robert Bimminger, said the municipality also wants a reliable charging network at busy locations (translated from German). MeinBezirk notes the site's position next to the motorway makes it useful for both regional and transit traffic.
