The Tesla app is getting a proper big-screen layout for the first time. "The Tesla App is rolling out now for iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android Tablets and Foldables," Tesla designer Alex Guichet posted on X on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, at 8:46 a.m. PT. "Finally on the big screens you bring around with you."
What changes
- Two columns: Guichet's iPad screenshots show a menu down the left and a large 3D view of the car or home on the right, TeslaNorth reports. The vehicle view lists Controls, Climate, Location, Self-Driving, Summon, Charging, Set Schedules, Security and Drivers, and Safety Score.
- Powerwall homes: the energy screen shows a house with live power flowing between solar, Powerwall, the grid and the car, with Home Status, Energy, Impact, Virtual Power Plant and Go Off-Grid on the left.
- Redesigned screens: "Our team of designers rethought many screens across the app to fill a bigger size," Guichet wrote, adding that they will "update and polish more in future releases." He said an "immersive" Powerwall view is due "in a few weeks."
- Android foldables tested: asked about Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8, Guichet replied it "was one of our test devices."
Don't see it yet?
"This release will be a *slow* rollout, it may take an extra week or two for everyone to get it while we gain our confidence that we got every screen right," Guichet said. As of Wednesday morning, the App Store listing still showed version 4.61.6 from Oct. 8 with "minor fixes and improvements" notes, TeslaNorth noted, which suggests Tesla is switching the layout on gradually. Tesla's main X account hadn't posted about it.
The timing lines up with Apple's iPhone Duo foldable, which goes on sale Friday, Oct. 23, per TeslaNorth. For the last app release, see Tesla app 4.61.6's Halloween features.
