Tesla's storage orders hit a record, but energy revenue fell. Tesla's energy generation and storage revenue was $2.881 billion in Q3 2026, down from $3.415 billion a year earlier, the company said in its update on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. CNBC put the decline at 16%. Tesla said the drop was "partially due to tariff-related customer refunds."
Key energy facts from the Q3 update
- Storage deployed: 13.7 GWh (Q2 2026: 13.5 GWh; Q3 2025: 12.5 GWh).
- Megafactory Texas began production, with planned capacity of 50 GWh a year. Tesla's Megapack lines are now listed as California 40 GWh, Shanghai 20 GWh and Texas 50 GWh.
- Tesla shipped the first Megapacks built solely with its own LFP cells from Nevada, where its LFP cell line is listed at 7 GWh in early ramp.
- Tesla reported its "highest-ever order rate and backlog" for energy storage and said "energy storage is the fastest way to add power to the existing grid and is critical to data center uptime."
Charging
Tesla ended the quarter with 8,904 Supercharger stations and 84,465 connectors, and said it deployed its first factory-preassembled "Accordion" Supercharger and the first preassembled Megacharger for the Tesla Semi ramp.
