Tesla registered 1,548 new cars in Norway in October, a 9.8% share that made it the country's top brand. Toyota was close behind on 1,493, according to the Norwegian Road Traffic Information Council (OFV).

The market

  • 15,725 new passenger cars, up 41.2% from October 2025. OFV calls it the highest October in more than 30 years.
  • 15,536 were battery electric, a 98.8% share. Only 89 diesel and 14 petrol cars were registered.
  • Chinese brands took 22.5% of the market, which OFV says is their highest share in any single month.

Model Y far ahead

The Model Y led with 1,429 registrations, almost twice the Toyota bZ4X (725). Next came the VW ID.4 (553), Xpeng G6 (542) and Audi Q4 e-tron (535). EV Kurier, citing Bilnytt and Teslant, says it is Tesla's best October in Norway and that the race with Toyota was only settled on the last two days of the month.

EV Kurier also reports, citing Bilnytt, that almost all Teslas registered in Norway up to Oct. 29 came from Shanghai rather than Grünheide. It treats this as a media report, because OFV does not publish where cars are built.

From January to October, Tesla has 21,523 registrations in Norway, 3.9% fewer than a year earlier.
