Tesla now has a full engineering campus in Europe. The Berlin Tesla Engineering Center (BTEC) opened on Wednesday in the city's Köpenick district, about 30 minutes from Giga Berlin, Tesla Europe announced.
The site brings four existing engineering sites onto one campus with 30 labs. Drive Tesla Canada reports the facility is a converted old factory complex, with labs covering materials, powertrain and vehicle engineering, plus validation and safety testing including airbags and battery cells.
Tesla says the project went from permit to operational in under a year, and calls it its third hub of this kind after Fremont and Shanghai. TeslaNorth notes Tesla describes the setup as creating a short feedback loop between development and the production ramp.
