Tesla's registrations in Sweden rose 248% in October from a year earlier, to 463 cars. The jump is from a very low base of 133 in October 2025, Teslant notes. M3, citing Reuters, reports the same 248% rise, along with 131% in Norway and 34% in Denmark.

EVs pass 50%

  • 24,660 new passenger cars were registered, up about 2%, according to Mobility Sweden.
  • About 12,600 were electric, a 51.1% share against 36.2% a year earlier. Allt om Elbil calls it a new Swedish record and the first month above half.
  • Plug-in hybrids fell 24%, and their share dropped from 29.5% to just under 22%.
  • Electric cars hold about 44% of the market for January to October.

The Model Y slips

Teslant says the Model Y was Sweden's top electric car in September with 2,330 registrations but was 11th in October with 328. Volvo's EX40 led on 997, followed by the EX30 (802). Tesla's year-to-date total is 8,700, up 48.9%.

Mobility Sweden chief economist Sofia Linder said the shift from plug-in hybrids shows more companies and households are ready for an electric car, and called for a broader EV premium and better charging where people live.
