Tesla is still South Korea's top import brand. According to the Korea Automobile Importers & Distributors Association (KAIDA), Tesla registered 9,165 cars in October, up 110.7% from a year earlier and its ninth straight month at the top of the import market.

That was down 25.9% from September's 12,372, and Tesla's monthly share slipped to 29.5% from 35.4%, Seoul Economic Daily reports. Total import registrations fell 10.8% month on month to 31,117. KAIDA vice chairman Chung Yoon-young attributed the decline to «declining electric vehicle sales at some brands and supply shortages.»

Mercedes-Benz was second with 6,744 and BMW third with 5,633; together they topped Tesla by more than 3,200 units. The Model Y Premium was the best-selling import at 5,501, followed by the Mercedes E 200 and the Model 3 at 2,199. EVs took 46.4% of imports.
