A weekend rental could become the new FSD test drive. Turo announced on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026 that starting Wednesday, Oct. 28, US guests will be able to search, find and book Teslas with FSD (Supervised) turned on. Turo checks each car's FSD status through a direct API integration with Tesla.

How it works

  • Hosts link their Tesla account to Turo. FSD status is then verified automatically and shown on eligible listings.
  • Eligible US hosts can get a free one-month FSD (Supervised) trial. After that it's Tesla's regular $99-a-month subscription, Electrek noted.
  • Turo says "thousands" of FSD-enabled Teslas are already listed. It didn't give an exact number. The Model 3 and Model Y are Turo's third- and fourth-most popular models so far this year.
  • Turo encourages guests to read Tesla's FSD (Supervised) documentation and safety guidelines before pickup.

"This industry-first integration with Tesla is another example of how Turo is redefining what car rental and access can look like," Turo CEO Andre Haddad said.

Why Tesla cares

Tesla reported 1.74 million active FSD subscriptions in Q3, a metric tied to Musk's 2025 CEO Performance Award. One of that award's milestones is 10 million, Electrek noted. Paid subscriptions count toward the goal, but free trials don't. Electrek also pointed out that FSD (Supervised) is a Level 2 system, so the renter remains responsible at all times. Turo didn't say who is liable if a guest crashes with FSD engaged.
