Three out of four new Teslas in North America now leave with paid FSD. On the Q3 2026 earnings call on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, CFO Vaibhav Taneja said "over 75% of deliveries in North America included a sign-up for paid FSD subscription at the time of delivery," about 20% higher than Q2, according to the transcript published by Investing.com. He noted every delivered car already comes with a free month of FSD, "still, people are signing up."

The FSD numbers

  • Taneja said FSD has reached over 1.7 million paid customers globally, and "for the first time, 50% is based on subscriptions." Tesla's deck put active subscriptions at 1.74 million, CNBC reported; FSD (Supervised) costs $99 a month in the U.S.
  • New Street Research analyst Pierre estimated FSD is "approaching $1 billion of ARR" (annual recurring revenue). "I think the numbers which you shared are correct," Taneja replied, adding Tesla will share more FSD metrics, including churn, as it scales.
  • Taneja said Tesla is "taking extra steps to sell certain cars in Europe with some benefits" to grow the fleet before broader FSD approval. Musk said EU-wide approval might come "within a few months," adding he "would be surprised if it takes longer than Q1."

Tesla is building its own maps

Answering an owner question about speed limits, parking and routing, Elluswamy said Tesla is building "an entirely new architecture with essentially AI-based mapping and navigation" that will be integrated with voice, learn personal and fleet preferences, and let drivers ask for different routes. He said the start and end of trips will use it "pretty soon as part of the V15 release," with it taking over navigation, parking and destination handling "over the next several months." No release date was given.
