Used EV prices have turned around. An iSeeCars study of more than 1.5 million used cars aged one to five years found that average used EV prices rose 9.8% between September 2025 and September 2026. Motor1 says that is nearly twice the rise for hybrids. Gasoline cars rose 0.3%.

The numbers

The average used EV now costs $32,533, compared with $31,954 for a gas car, a $579 gap. A year earlier, used EVs were $2,227 cheaper. Hybrids are the most expensive at $34,476, Motor1 reports.

Used EVs also sell faster. Autoblog says the average used EV now sells in 41.9 days, down from 46.6 a year earlier, while gas cars slowed from 45.7 to 54.8 days.

Where Tesla sits

Autoblog says three Tesla models are among the five used cars with the biggest price increases. But no Tesla is in the top 10 for speed of sale. The fastest-selling used EV is the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron at 29.8 days, and the Toyota bZ4X and Honda Prologue both sell faster than any Tesla in the study.

Why

iSeeCars links the shift to fuel costs. Autoblog notes that AAA put the September average for regular gasoline at $4.33 a gallon, the highest September average on record.
