X Money is capping its top 6.00% savings rate at the first $150,000 in deposits, starting Dec. 1, 2026. The change is now on X Money's public rates page, which says rates have been in effect since Oct. 12 and are variable.

What changes

  • Up to $150,000: 6.00% APY for accounts eligible for the top rate.
  • Above $150,000: 4.00% APY.
  • ATM operator fees: Tesla North reports that a notice sent to account holders on Oct. 30 limits refunds to $4 per withdrawal, up to twice per calendar month. X Money itself still charges $0 in ATM fees.

Who gets 6%

The rates page says the boosted rate applies when an account receives $1,000 or more in qualifying deposits within a trailing 34-day period. Qualifying deposits are ACH direct deposits with SEC code PPD, or X creator payouts. Tesla North says eligible paid X Subscription tiers also earn 6.00%. New York residents earn no interest on these accounts.

Why Tesla owners may care

Recent Tesla software builds have tested X Money as a Robotaxi payment option, Tesla North reports. Bankchurning.net notes that before this change there was no published cap on the balance that could earn the top rate.
