Dropbox is making its biggest acquisition to push into AI infrastructure. The company will buy Tigris Data for $350 million, TechCrunch reports, and is launching DBX Agent Cloud, a storage platform for businesses and developers building AI models and agents.

Tigris, founded by former Uber engineers who worked on Uber's storage systems, offers globally distributed storage that places data closer to the users and computing resources that need it. Crunchbase News says the Sunnyvale company has raised about $31.9 million, including a $25 million Series A led by Spark Capital in October 2025, and that Dropbox called it its largest acquisition since its 2007 founding.

Dropbox told TechCrunch the deal should close in the fourth quarter and that it has no plans to cut headcount as part of the acquisition.
