The memory chip crunch is hitting Nintendo's console sales. The company sold 2.67 million Switch 2 units in the three months to September 30, down 41% from a year earlier and below the 3.82 million sold in the previous quarter, CNBC reports.
During the quarter Nintendo raised Switch 2 prices in the US, Canada and Japan as memory costs climbed. Quarterly revenue of 448.2 billion yen ($2.8 billion) missed the 481.37 billion yen expected, and net profit of 73.5 billion yen missed the 82.16 billion yen forecast, according to LSEG estimates cited by CNBC.
For the first half, Nintendo's results show net sales down 12.1% to 966.0 billion yen, while operating profit rose 49.1% to 216.5 billion yen and net profit rose 11.0% to 220.9 billion yen. Nintendo kept its forecast of 16.5 million Switch 2 units for the fiscal year ending March 2027.
