BYD is moving fast to fix a slow seller. The company launched the second-generation Seal 07 sedan in China on Thursday, with five trims priced from 139,900 yuan ($20,830) to 172,900 yuan, CnEVPost reports.
There are two DM-i plug-in hybrid versions at 139,900 and 149,900 yuan, using a 1.5-liter turbo engine, and three all-electric versions at 149,900, 159,900 and 172,900 yuan. The EV's range rises to 775 km and the plug-in hybrid's electric range reaches 330 km. The EV's starting price is 20,000 yuan, about 12%, below the Seal 07 EV launched on March 5.
That earlier car struggled: BYD delivered just 8,017 Seal 07s in China from January to September, according to China EV DataTracker figures cited by CarNewsChina. The new model supports BYD's flash charging and carries a roof-mounted lidar as part of the God's Eye B driver assistance system.
