Smart's two-seater is back in China. The Mercedes-Benz and Geely joint venture launched the Smart #2 Premium with a limited-time starting price of 99,900 yuan ($14,880) after incentives and a list price of 102,900 yuan, CnEVPost reports. The #2 is the all-electric successor to the ForTwo city car.

The car is 2,751 mm long and uses a 35.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with CATL cells, for up to 410 km of CLTC range. Charging from 30% to 80% takes as little as 15 minutes. A 60 kW rear motor drives the rear wheels, and the turning radius is 3.35 meters.

Smart said at the Guangzhou launch that the 999-unit China Couture Edition sold out quickly, and that the global team spent seven years developing the ECA platform built specifically for two-seat cars (translated from Chinese). The Premium trim reaches 0-50 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 140 km/h.
