Tesla appears to be building referral rewards for FSD subscriptions. Code in Tesla app version 4.62.0 and later describes a program where you earn a free month (or months) of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) when someone subscribes through your referral link. You could apply the reward to any vehicle on your account, Not a Tesla App and TeslaHubs reported.
What the app strings say
- "If someone subscribes with your link, pick which vehicle gets the reward"
- "Confirm Vehicle for Reward"
- "Select the vehicle you'd like to apply the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial to"
The code also includes front and back images of a digital referral "coin."
Why it matters
The subscription is now Tesla's main way of selling FSD. Tesla reported 1.74 million FSD subscribers in Q3 and a 75% take rate on North American deliveries (our Q3 FSD breakdown). Last year Tesla launched FSD gift cards, which cover one month plus tax.
Not live yet
Features found in app code don't always launch, or launch in the form the code suggests. Tesla hasn't announced the program, the number of free months or a start date. For now, the app's referral screen doesn't offer FSD rewards.
