Tesla's Cybercab now takes rides until midnight in Austin. The Robotaxi app began notifying riders on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026: "Night out? Cybercab has your back. Rides now available until midnight," according to a screenshot posted by Aaron Cash and reported by Drive Tesla.
That brings Cybercab in line with Tesla's Model Y Robotaxis, which already run 6 a.m. to midnight, Not a Tesla App reported.
An hour at a time
- August: Robotaxi hours expanded to 6 a.m.-10 p.m., per Not a Tesla App.
- About two weeks ago: pushed to 11 p.m. Cybercabs launched on a 6 a.m.-11 p.m. schedule, Drive Tesla said.
- Now: midnight for both.
What's left before 24/7
Only a six-hour overnight window remains. Tesla AI VP Ashok Elluswamy has said FSD v15 will unlock round-the-clock Robotaxi operations, with a fleet rollout to Robotaxi vehicles targeted for this month, Not a Tesla App reported.
Night driving is the main hurdle. Musk said earlier this month that Tesla is working on spotting pets that are hard to see at night, "grey kittens on grey tarmac in the dark."
Fleet and cities
Cybercabs, two-seaters with no steering wheel or pedals, operate only in Austin for now. Not a Tesla App puts the Austin Cybercab fleet at 300+ and Drive Tesla at about 300, with Dallas expected next. Tesla has not published an exact fleet count; see our Robotaxi tracker.
The service is also under federal scrutiny: NHTSA is examining claims Robotaxis sped through active school zones, covering about 1,000 Model Y and Cybercab vehicles, though none of the four incidents identified involved a crash or injury. Related: NHTSA crash data and the first Cybercab crash.
