Tesla met NHTSA's Cybercab deadline, but the key answers aren't public. An October 30 record in audit query AQ26002 shows Tesla requested confidential treatment for each remaining document responsive to Question 8, in its entirety, TeslaNorth and Cybercab Collective report.
Question 8 asks Tesla to explain, for each applicable federal motor vehicle safety standard, how it determined Cybercab complies, which subpart it certified to, and whether it relied on engineering analysis, physical tests, simulation or other means.
NHTSA opened the audit on September 3, the day Tesla began commercial Cybercab service, and issued the special order on September 10. Tesla asked to extend the deadline to November 20; the agency set October 30 instead, TeslaNorth says.
Other questions cover temporarily attached driver controls, standards Tesla treats as inapplicable, and how a car without a foot brake meets the service-brake rule. Cybercab Collective stresses the notice is about requested confidentiality, not a finding that Cybercab complies or fails to comply.
