Houston, it has a bigger map. Tesla expanded its Robotaxi service area in Houston on Monday, Oct. 26, 2026. The official Robotaxi account on X announced it with "Houston, we have liftoff. Bigger service area now live," alongside a map shaped like a rocket.

Where you can ride now

  • Service had been limited to a zone of about 25 square miles in northwest Harris County, around Jersey Village, Willowbrook and part of FM 1960, since the April launch, Electrek reported.
  • The old zone is now the rocket's nose cone. A long body runs southeast to downtown Houston and Bellaire, where it flares into fins.
  • Riders can hail across much of the 610 Loop and northwest Houston, but part of the northeast Loop falls outside the map, Houston Public Media reported.
  • Community site Robotaxi Tracker lists the new area at 254 square miles, per Electrek. Tesla didn't publish a figure.

Big map, small fleet

Robotaxi Tracker counts 34 unsupervised Model Ys in Houston, up from 22 three months ago, and no Cybercabs yet, Electrek said. That's a community count. Tesla hasn't disclosed its Houston fleet size. Elon Musk replied to the map on X: "I swear it's just a coincidence."

Waymo also runs driverless rides in Houston, and Amazon's Zoox is testing there but doesn't take public riders, Houston Public Media noted. Tesla still says safety is its main limit on expansion, Electrek added, and a bigger geofence doesn't mean more cars on the road.
