Miele has ordered 840 battery-electric Volkswagen vans for its European customer-service fleet. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles won the contract in a Europe-wide tender Miele ran for 2026 and 2027.
The details
- 440 of the vans will be based in Germany.
- Auto-Medienportal identifies the vehicle as the electric Transporter (T7).
- They get lightweight Sortimo racking for tools and spare parts, which keeps weight and energy use down.
- Electrive says the battery and drivetrain versions have not been disclosed.
How electric Miele's fleet is
In professional service, which looks after commercial customers, almost all of the roughly 420 technicians will drive battery-electric vans, a share close to 100%. In household service the share is about 30%, Miele says, but rising steadily. VW Commercial Vehicles sales and marketing board member Lars Krause handed over the keys at the official delivery.
Why it matters
Fleet orders like this are where electric vans are winning in Europe: fixed daily routes, depot charging and cost-of-ownership math. Tesla does not make a van. Its commercial EV is the Class 8 Semi, which competes for a different kind of fleet.
