Tesla's Robotaxi service now runs from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., or 20 hours a day. Tesla's Robotaxi account announced the change on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026, Drive Tesla Canada reported. The post did not say which markets get the longer hours.

The hours have been growing quickly. Drive Tesla Canada said service was extended to midnight on Oct. 17 and to 1 a.m. last week.

New rider features

  • Rear camera feed: riders can watch a live camera view during the trip.
  • Trip sharing: riders can share their trip with a friend.
  • Live Activity: a new Live Activity shows trip progress on the phone.
  • Calm Mode: dims the passenger screen and sets the cabin lighting to a relaxing state.
  • Grok: Tesla's AI assistant is now in Model Y Robotaxis.
  • Accessibility: a better locating arrow, haptic feedback and music control through a screen reader.

Napping on the way home

Teslarati showed the Model Y version of the quiet screen in a video posted by Spencer (@scotsrule08) on what looked like a night ride in Dallas. Tapping a crescent-moon icon leaves only "Arriving soon", the destination and "Tap display to exit quiet mode". The Pull Over, temperature, volume and Support buttons stay on screen.

Teslarati also noted that the turn signals now chime for only the first four blinks. Driverless Model Y rides have run in Dallas and Houston since April.

We covered the first sighting of the quiet screen and rear camera view in the Cybercab in our Oct. 26 story.
