A Houston Tesla Robotaxi rider logged a 74.1-mile round trip in a single booking on Saturday, Oct. 31. The rider, Spencer, who posts on X as @scotsrule08, shared an in-app receipt showing 3 hours and 5 minutes and a fare of $133.25. The ride ended exactly where it began.

The route

  • It ran from the northern edge of Tesla's Houston geofence to the southern edge and back.
  • Spencer said the trip did not use the interstate.
  • He called it "absolutely flawless" and said he recorded the whole ride for a Road to Autonomy video that had not been posted yet.

Is it a record?

Spencer said it is "probably up there amongst the longest" Robotaxi rides. Both reports note that Tesla does not publish a longest-ride ranking, so treat that as one rider's estimate, not an official record.

Why the map matters

Tesla widened the Houston geofence on Oct. 26, pushing service from the original northwest Harris County area into much of the 610 Loop. Where's the Driver? said the larger area has been estimated at about 254 square miles, compared with about 25 square miles at launch in April. Our story on the expansion has the map. The paid fare is also a useful comparison with the $0 first rides Tesla now offers new riders in Dallas and Houston.
